Bushisms
I have found that my advanced middle school students enjoy correcting President Bush's malapropisms. I do one to three of these per class as a warm up. You can find literally hundreds of them online at http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/blbushisms.htm. Many of them are difficult to explain, but there are a few obvious ones and I have even found that some actually help with structural errors in essay writing - not just grammar. For instance: "If I become president, we will have emergency room care and gag-orders."
Nothing grammatically wrong, it just doesn't follow segue - I used this to show the importance of keeping pertinent information in separate paragraphs when essay writing. The kids love it.
