Quick and Creative
Have the students form groups. Hand each group a list of words in their native language, or write the list on the board. Have each group send one member up at a time to spell out an English translation of the words on the list, one letter at a time--one letter per student (adds to the suspense of the game, and forces each student to play even a small role in the activity) in a race against time.
The groups cannot use dictionaries, but are encouraged to be as creative as they like in the selection of their English translations. (Teams may choose completely different translations for the words, allowing for originality.) The group with the most valid, correctly-spelled words per the list wins!
The game can be modified by increasing/decreasing the number and/or difficulty of the words handed to the students.
