Home Main Submit Contents Recipes

Hello everyone,

Here is a vocabulary revision activitity which can be done in groups. They will also check their answers and each group will get a piece of chocolate when all the answers are correct.

Procedure:
Step 1:

Divide the class into 5 groups or into 10 groups. Make sure you have 3 students in 1 group. Each group should have a secretary to write the answers down on a separate sheet of paper. Be sure to tell the secretaries to write the sentence number down as well.

Step 2:

Give each group a list of 12 words in a box on a piece of paper or you can also ask groups to copy the 12 words onto their papers. Tell students that there are 2 extra words in the list. In total there are 10 sentences. Give each group a sentence written on a slip of paper with a gap to be filled with a word from the box.
E.G.,

1. I havenít been able to _______ my study plans, yet.

(This sentence could be written in font 24 on an A4 paper and cut in a slip so that all group members can see the sentence)

Step 3:

The teacher gives each group a sentence. When the teacher says start, all the group members read their sentence and select the correct word from the list to fill in the blank. When they know the answer, they write the answer on a separate sheet of paper and not on the slip the teacher has distributed.

Step 4:

When the teacher rings the bell, every group has to pass their sentence to another group clockwise and start doing the next sentence until all sentences are done. The first group gets the last groupís slip of sentence. When all the sentences are finished, the teacher gives another set of sentences that have to be filled in by the group.
Step 5:

The teacher checks the answers with the whole class by reading the sentences aloud.

In this way, if you have 15 students in class, each student will have revised 10 words in a short time.
