This is best done with students who are already familiar with each other. I hope it's clear to follow. Also, no preparation time needed and the language is light.

1. Divide the board into 3 columns.

2. Pick a student at random.

3. Pointing to the student with one hand and the other pointing to the first column, make a statement like 'I KNOW you play piano. In column 1 write 'you play piano.'

4. Then, the same again but pointing to column 2, say 'I THINK you have a sister.'
In column 2 write 'you have a sister.'

5. And again with column 3, say 'I DON'T KNOW IF your mother speaks English.
In column 3 write 'your mother speaks English.'

It is up to you whether you wish to give the columns the headings of
I know...
I think...
I don't know if...,
but I prefer students to hear and practice the language a little before reading it because they get bogged down on each word rather than listening to the natural flow and stress used.

6. When this is done, ask students the questions for what you thought and didn't know,
e.g. 'Do you have a sister?'
and 'Does your mother speak English?'

7. As these questions are answered by the student, erase them from the board and rewrite them in column number one.

8. Instruct students that they should go around the class making such statements about the others and finally asking the appropriate questions for what they thought and didn't know.

9. Students can report back every thing they collectively now know about each other to the class.
