Singing the Blues
I taught a unit on the Blues in my American culture class. After playing the students Muddy Waters "Hoochie Coochie Man" and John Lee Hooker's "I'm a Man" I assigned my class to write a blues song.I used the basic blues riff and told them to write about whatever gets them feeling blue (exams, break-ups, etc.) I brought in my guitar to class and made them sing the Blues. The class loved it!
