Once Upon A time ..
This is a quick and simple filler which can: review narrative tenses; improve pronunciation; and get students using connectors.
Simply give them the beginning of the sentence:
"Once upon a time there was a .."
The student on your left must repeat the beginning - and add one (only one) word. The next student repeats the sentence so far - and adds one more word. And so on, and so on, ...
The only stipulation is that the sentence cannot finish.
