Take me out to the ballgame!

I teach English in Japan where baseball is as nearly a favorite pastime there as it is in the states. I therefore thought it might be a good vehicle through which to teach. The rules are simple. Divide the class into two teams. Using a whiteboard, draw a simple baseball diamond. Each player gets up "to bat" and must verbally construct a full sentence using as many words as they can. The scoring is decided by how many words the sentence contains. For example, 5 words or under- out, 6-8 words-walk, 9-12 words-single, and on and on however you decide. My Japanese students enjoyed it immensely and really got into it and I felt like I was at Fenway Park! (Red Sox, my team!)
