one activity i did was to tell my students to imagine that they could be any person or any profession they wanted, and then ask why... they have to have at least two reasons... some of the answers were pretty good, like Martin Luther King Jr, Allen Iverson, Hans Christian Anderson, and a whole host of Bill Gates's.. one person even said she would like to be me! the most important thing is to say why, and here in china i usually remind they not to say that they want to be themselves... many people say they are happy being themselves, so you might have to remind them that it's very good to be confident in yourself, but for the exercise you should talk about your dreams or goals... also, many students will say very cheesy things about how they want to be their parents or a good mother or chairman mao, etc...but hopefully you'll stil get some really interesting answers...
