LOVING THE STUDENTS = LOVING YOUR CAREER
![]()
LOVING YOUR CAREER LOVE is the key ingrediant to this 'recipe.' It is simple yet profound. One cannot add too much of this ingrediant in the classroom. I have taught over 600 students in six semesters at a university in South Korea and have found that the best ingrediant is LOVE. Now, be sure to mix in patience, fun, discipline, hard work, group work, a safe environment, prayer, exciting tasks, challenging lessons, and a listening ear. Add and mix according to the classroom's liking, but don't forget love. As a Christian, I will add that prayer for my students and God's love has helped me teach English better than any certain teaching method. I leave this university with a sad heart, as I have loved and been LOVED by so many of my students. This alone (above and beyond any TESOL textbook, TESOL graduate class, etc.!) has helped me love my career because I established relationships with my students.
Add love and enjoy!
