A good way to get students to practice time prepositions is to ask for "processes." I usually start by describing how I cook pasta: FIRST, I put water in a pot, THEN, I add salt, AFTER THAT, I turn on the stove... You can get all kinds of interesting processes; I loved hearing how my Indian students washed their clothes or made a South Indian breakfast. I liked it.
