write a Shakespeare play

Home Main Submit Contents Recipes

Not really of course...but following these guidelines they can write their own ESL versions of Shakespeare plays.
For Preparation - draw several items that may have frequented his works like a sword, a vase, a crown, a ship. Cut them out.
Write out Character descriptions for 5 or 6 characters in easy to understand English ( such as Antony, Cleopatra, Othello, Iago, Viola ) preferably characters that are a little bit different from each other..print this out and discuss these personalities with your class...perhaps bring in the plays to show them
Finally, the students must choose 4 of the characters and write a story with them...they pick 2 or 3 of the items and incorporate them in the story. These items may help to spur their imaginations.
This was one of my better ideas...hope it works! I thought that after using so many of the great ideas from this site that it was time to contribute one.
