This is for college and university students for a conversational mid-term grade.

Play students a very well known story, "Titanic", or something as well known. Choose one scene and let students watch it a few times. Once they are familiar with the scene make them write an alternative ending. It has to be completely different from the one that the original follows.

Then ask them to act it out in front of the class. Some students have great initiative and end up making their own films and editing them together. This can be a great source of fun and combining creativity with conversational English.
