Here is a nice presentation activity for presenting modals that can refer to possibility and certainty: might be, could be, may be, and must be. The steps of the activity:
- Teacher (T) writes the forms of the modals of possibility and certainty on the board.
- T. has a crushed aspirin in a plastic plate or a piece of paper.
- T. walks around the class and asks students (ss) to LOOK and make their guesses lile: it might be.....
- Second time ss make their guesses by TOUCHING it.
- Third time ss make their guesses by SMELLING it
- Lastly, ss make their guesses by TASYING it.
- After all these trials, if the ss are sure they say: Yes, teacher it MUST BE.....
