He certainly is a useful little guy. The videos are a great way to get your students to practice the present continuous. It's simple.
1 Students sit in two rows back to back.
2 Position the screen so that it is facing one row of students.
3 The students that can see the screen have to tell the students sitting behind them what is going on, using present continuous.
4 Have the non-viewers complete a worksheet (I usually have them filling in the verbs and I also throw in trivial bits and pieces "what time does the clock show?" that kind of thing.
I've had the non-viewers write down everything dictated to them
and then (if they are familiar with the past continous) compare their versions.
It usually works really well and gets them talking especially when the non-viewers hear the others laughing, be careful of cheats!
