There's More to Postcards Than Meets the Eye

I collect postcards. Or should I say I don't throw them away. I've got a pretty good collection now of postcards from all over the world. They're an invaluable aid to teaching all sorts of things, such as........

For example, in Korea they don't have street names, so the postcard is a perfect tool for introducing the concept of the grid system, to which most "western" and Latin American countries adhere. They're also good for teaching abbreviations (st., ave. rd., bldg., pl., etc.)and just about anything having to do with places, not to mention culture. You can also examine different writing styles, such as shorthand versus longhand.
