Using songs for second language learners is very motivating. In general, my students listen to songs a lot but they have never actually understood the lyrics. Get students to select a song, and as a teacher decide whether it's appropriate for the class, in terms of tempo and clarity of the pronunciation. Students are particularly interested when you use the top down and bottom up approach to analyse the message of the song through focusing on for example grammatical item. At the end of the lesson, you'll get the weak students singing to the song. If they didn't manage to internalise the grammar items, at least they practise using the language.
