Lower Expectations

Currently, I am teaching in Ulsan. Nearing the end of my first week at ELC, I found myself scrambling to organize activities around the books given to me by my manager. In addition, I discovered that the way I spoke to my students was far to complicated for them to understand. I had such high expectations of my students that I became quite frustrated and discouraged to teach. On a more positive note, I hope next week will be a better one for me. I still believe I can make a difference in their lives. My advice to anyone, teaching for the very first time in Korea is not to have high expectations of the students and to talk to your manager or your fellow colleagues about your frustrations or problems you are experiencing.
