In Response To: Re: Wasting my time? (carpe diem)

How about if I obtained a CELTA/Trinity Certificate and tried to get work on a volunteer basis overseas ? Would this be a better idea than trying to get a salaried job. If so, which organisations offer the best conditions?

I suggest you hold off getting a TEFL qualification until you've looked into NGOs or charity organizations that recruit volunteers for projects abroad -- some may provide training. You'll have to do that research on your own based on your nationality, countries you're interested in, the type of volunteer work you're willing to take on (including non-teaching projects), your comfort level, etc. Start with an Internet search using 'organizations international volunteer teach opportunities' for projects that are doable and pique your interest.
