The reason you need a degree is not due to the job requirements necessarily but to get a work visa in most countries you need a bachelors degree. Exceptions are some parts of South Asia and South America but if you want lots of choice I advise you to get a degree first. And even in the few countries that don't require a BD, you will be up against possibly hundreds of Teachers that do!
