I am looking to get my CELTA or equivalent in 2017 but have other commitments that would make a four or five-week full-time course a bit tricky to manage. There is a blended CELTA in Istanbul which has the contact time compressed into two weeks - that would be ideal except that I'm not that keen on Istanbul. I haven't found any others in this format - does anyone know of one? If not, how practical is it to gen up on a four-week course beforehand and then skip a couple of hours a day to get other work done?

The CELTA (as well as SIT TESOL and Trinity CertTESOL) is an intensive course. Skipping a couple of hours a day to get other work done won't help you pass the course since you're expected to complete 120 hours of study including teaching practice.

Either take the 4-week course when you don't have other commitments, or go on cambridgeenglish.org for CELTA providers that offer the blended version in your target countries.
