I would use the current technology at hand. Have the student listen and even interact with videos, news broadcasts, sports, films, YouTube, radio ...

You would need to screen these audio files to determine the level of language suitable for your student.

You can categorize units based on themes appropriate to the student's likes and desires.

For example, FIFA World Cup, if your student is sport oriented would be a great place to extract English language samples from many English speaking countries.
