It helps. You do not say where you are from, but picture uk yr9 SATs, and that is about the English Language level you are most likely to find amongst chinese university students. Sadly most employers of esl teachers are pig ignorant regarding qualifications and all but worship the CELTA, thinking it is some sort of post graduate qualification from Cambridge University, rather than the half a bloody TEFL it actually is, so be careful
