In Response To: Teaching Children Overseas (Mari)

I just had some questions about teaching English overseas. I am currently obtaining a Master's Degree in Child Psychology, and will attending a Trinity -Tesol program to get a certification. I just wanted to know if my educational background is suitable for employment in teaching English overseas.

Although your MA isn't relevant to teaching English, it easily meets the visa/work permit requirements for many countries.

Be aware that TEFL/TESOL cert courses like the one you plan to take are geared toward teaching adults and not children. Anyway, the best way to see what qualifications are needed is to check out current job ads for positions in the countries you want to teach in. For teaching children, look at Teach Away, International Schools Review, Seek Teachers, International Schools Services, etc.
