In Response To: Could I make it? (Alex Dahlman)

This is just a feeler for now. I live in Idaho and want to take a TEFL/TESOL course. Problem is, there is not any offered in the state. So I either have to leave the state to take it or take it online and tutor at the University. I graduate in May and want to work overseas to hopefully work up through the JET or EPIK program. I have teaching experience but not classroom, summer camps and training is all. The rest of my work as a student has been in healthcare, firefighting and web development.

Would I stand a chance with EPIK or JET? Or really any Asian institute with an online TESOL and in classroom experience?

Obviously, job ads for these programs specify the qualifications applicants are expected to have---use that in determining what training and/or experience you'd need. Otherwise, head over to the Cafe's Japan and Korea job forums for guidance from teachers already working in those programs.
