Hi Carl,

You'll be starting your CELTA tomorrow, it seems. Tim's advice was good. The 4-week CELTA is super-intense, so be prepared, and don't plan on having any free time during those 4 weeks, just endless study. Your advance reading of Scrivener's book is admirable and excellent. If you still can, find someone you know in the next day or two to talk the book over with, so as to exercise your knowledge. You just tell them what you have learned, in an hour's monologue, over a beer or two. It will be a practice test, as it were. Learn the IPO fairly well too (a couple of hours cramming). Also, you may have to do a learner language analysis using a beginning learner of English at the language school where you are taking the CELTA. For this task, it's best to pick a language you are already familiar with, if possible. I chose a learner who was interesting but whose native language I knew nothing about, and I had to complete a lengthy analysis of his language vis-ŗ-vis English in just a few days. Not a wise choice or an easy task.
