Re: Celta pre course advice/reading

Hi all,

Hope everyone is well.

I am just about to start the full time 1 month intensive Celta through in Edinburgh on the 6/1/14.

Anyone got any advice of how I can get up to speed/ahead of the game before I start??

I am 1/2 way through the Jim Scrivener book which is good.

I have just started the Martin Parrot book - Grammar for English Language Teachers. This seems to me like a mindful of information. Bearing in mind I haven't studied English since my school days 25 years ago I'm finding getting my head around the grammar pretty tough.

I've also been working through a book - First Aid in English - Angus Maciver which is a great book.

Any suggestions for easier books to ease me in to this whole grammar world??

I'm pretty worried that my lack of knowledge of grammar is going to be massively obvious :-(

Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions.

Cheers

Carl
