In Response To: Teaching in Vietnam (Nicola)

I am going to Ho Chi Minh City in 3 weeks time in the hope of finding work teaching english.
I haven't had time to do a TEFL/TESOL course and I hope to do one over there. I am aware that CELTA is extremely well recognised but I had hoped not to spend so much as the courses I have seen in Ho Chi Minh City are $1650. Can anyone tell me which other courses are well recognised with a more attractive and affordable price?

I would really appreciate any helpful advice.

To begin, do you have an undergraduate university Bachelors degree? You will need that as the first entry requirement to enter Vietnam to teach. A TEFL certificate is secondary.

Peruse Dave's International Job Board and all the postings for TEFL teaching positions in Vietnam begin with the said Bachelor degree requirement followed by a TEFL certificate.

You may want to do further research before you proceed with your eventual goal.
