Not a total waste of time, as they can form a useful basis for taking a face-to-face course later, but decent employees want to see the a qualification that includes at least 120 hours of tuition, at least 6 hours of assessed teaching practice with real students, and external moderation. The Cambridge English CELTA and the Trinity Cert TESOL are the best known courses that meet these requirements, but here are others.
