In Response To: Review for Celta courses? (Katie)

I think I've finally decided on taking a CELTA course vs. any of the other certifications.
Now at least that's done.

But now I need to figure out where to take the course. I think I'd prefer to take it in the States and the closest (and thus most convenient) course is from the ELS language center in Seattle.

The second closest seems to be in Calgary, Canada and that may also be an option.

The only thing is that this is a pretty huge investment for me, so I want to make sure that the course is really high quality. I can't seem to find ANY reviews for the course offered at the Seattle location. Anybody know any graduates from that course or have an idea on where I might find some reviews or testimonials? Are they out there and my Google skills are just failing me?

I'd also be interested in reviews/info on the one in Calgary as a backup plan. These locations would save me the cost of a plane ticket.

Apparently, you didn't do enough research on the CELTA. You would have read that it's the exact same quality course content/level of instruction regardless of where you take it because it's regulated by the Univ of Cambridge. This is a major reason why it appeals to both employers and newbie teachers world wide.

Anyway, choose the course location based on any or all of the following criteria:

- your personal teaching goals

- target country (where you want to teach)

- your budget/total costs involved (e.g., lodging, airfare, food, transport, etc.)

- the course provider's support and services such as CV/resume-writing help, onsite photocopying and internet access, visa assistance, and so on. Facility services and support should be indicated on the school's website. If not, contact them.
