In Response To: Best resources for preparing grammar lessons? (Zak Gottlieb)

Most qualified second language English teachers with teaching experience will tell you teaching grammar per se is not a way ESL/EFL students acquire language communicative skills.

If the purpose of your grammar lessons is for students to be able to communicate competently in the English language, grammar teaching should be a by product of your English lessons.

For example, if as a teacher you are teaching how an ESL/EFL student asks for directions, teaching students to ask and write grammatically correct "WH" questions would benefit your students' learning.

As an example: "Where" is the next Stop? as opposed to "We're" is the next Stop? Explain the importance in differentiating between the two questions.

Contextualized within a communicative lesson, your grammar lessons will be well received rather than relying on a textbook providing you with many prescriptive rules that students will never remember or follow.

If you absolutely require some grammar upgrading, the Internet is extremely helpful.
