In Response To: Type of Certification (Khara)

Hello i have been interested in teaching English abroad for about 3 years and i will be finally graduating college with my Bachelors in English and i have been getting so confused about the different types of Certifications that there are. Since i graduate Summer 2014 i want to fulfill my certifications so that i can go right out into a country and school right after graduation but i keep hearing that the online certifications are scams and that they are not accepted in most Teaching Abroad programs, especially in any country in Europe or Asia.
I just need to know if they are scams or not?

Not all are scams; they're just worthless and limiting if you're looking to make yourself as marketable as possible for the better teaching jobs. Instead, go for a CELTA, SIT TESOL, or Trinity CertTESOL teaching qualification. By the way, if you hold a US passport, forget about teaching in "any country in Europe"---Americans are not eligible to work in most of Europe. However, Asia is pretty much wide open and a good region for newbies to build their first few years of experience.
