In Response To: TESOL Cert Italy/ Hiring Season (Francesco)

Probably your most important Italian job credential is that you are a duel citizen: American/Italian. That is crucial.

Nevertheless, I hope you have been paying attention to the financial crisis in Italy.

Italians living in Italy and then all the other Europeans who speak English with credible TEFL credentials are all looking for teaching positions in a country that is struggling to stay afloat financially. The unemployment rate in Italy is extremely high especially for young people as in Spain.

With that reality, would it be economically and/or politically prudent for an Italian TEFL employer to hire an American citizen irrespective of their excellent academic qualifications and their duel nationality?

That is a question and a realisitic scenario you will have to grapple with.
