I've been teaching in Europe for nearly 15 years now. An MA is still not going to get an American citizen into a Western European country, unfortunately. Where in Europe are you considering? Germany is a legal option; otherwise you are looking at Central/Eastern Europe only.
The last (rare) opening we advertised for at the university where I used to teach in the Netherlands attracted over 50 'good' applications; related MA + experience + EU citizen and does not need a very difficult to get work visa.
