I have been teaching EFL in Japan for about 12 years and am looking for a change. My plan is to complete a distance MA TESOL with the University of Nottingham and apply for jobs in the Middle East. Distance degrees without an on-campus component are often mentioned as unacceptable by employers in Saudi, Dubai, etc. Though the degree does not mention the mode of delivery anyone who reads my CV will see I was working outside the UK throughout the 3 year program. What should I do to avoid problems with applications in the future? Is the answer to follow the MA TESOL with a DELTA? Is that not backwards?

You are doing your best to academically upgrade yourself and make yourself more marketable to future employers. If I were you, I would proceed with your plan. I would also ask the university for a formal letter explaining its policy of making both modes of delivery (class and on line) equal in content and academic rigour.
