LOL... The subject says it all - I need help! I have an assignment to teach ESL to members of a Government agency in the Middle East: Beginner, Inermediate and Advanced classes.
I will have 20 students (all adults) in my class. Thing is, I have never taught English before. I am a native English speaker and have a defense and security background which is why I was chosen for this task. I am lost!
I've bought a few e-books on ESL, lesson planning and such but I am finding it hard how to get started with the first lesson of the first day of class. I only have nine days to get this stuff ready! LOL...
Am I doomed? Your thoughts, advice?? Please!!!

Doomed seems appropriate. It sounds like you weren't very clear to those who 'chose' you that you aren't qualified or experienced in teaching EFL.
Anyway, there are some variables to consider, especially what country you're in and what the general focus is (e.g., business English, intensive English, general conversational English, or some other English for Specific Purposes domain). Without this info, it's difficult to offer some guidance. I suggest you post your SOS on the Cafe's country-specific job discussion forum and include more info about what you're expected to achieve---what the objectives are. In the meantime, perhaps you can request a delay in starting these courses, or better yet, go to your higher-ups and explain the situation you've been put into.
