In Response To: Wanting to teach with no BA degree any advice? (June)

Hi June.

It's a good question you have raised and one which tends to lead to rather general and often misleading responses on these boards.

Firstly, regarding Online versus Onsite:
If you have absolutely no teaching experience whatsoever and no experience of learning a foreign language then you really should be looking to take an onsite TEFL/TESOL course. This can be a CELTA, TEFL or TESOL. As long as you don't wish to teach specifically for the schools which provide the CELTA qualification themselves then it really doesn't matter which option you choose (such as the British Council which likes to accept CELTA trained teachers as they provide this training themselves).
If you do have some teaching or foreign language learning experience then the Online cert will be perfectly fine.

For most Asian countries a degree is required as part of the visa process but here in Europe it's usually a case of degree or TEFL certificate (such as here in Prague for example).

Hope it helps!

Neville :-)
