I have a small retirement pension and have twice taught for free on Pacific islands at university level in exchange for accommodation, evening meals and airfare. It has been most enjoyable. However, despite a shortage of good teachers, very few small island government education departments answer enquiries. Try missionary organisations.
China has different policies according to its provincial governments. A small number, including Henan, allow paid employment of foreign teachers over the age of 65. I don't know about unpaid volunteer work.
Schools for refugees appeciate volunteer unpaid teachers. You could try the Tibetan schools in India.
Writing from experience, there are some drawbacks associated with philanthropy. When teaching for free or less than local pay in Middle Eastern and Asian countries, it is often common for employers to factor in free labour to maximise personal profit. In addition, in some cultures administrative staff often treat low paid or volunteer foreign staff with scant respect.
