Speaking from lengthy experience, a Master's or a CELTA will get you university positions (usually at an attached EAL Centre) but a CELTA is a better bet for language schools. If you want a long term university career in Teaching English as an Additional Language, do the Masters and then a PhD. I have found however that even Masters and PhD holders and trained teachers take CELTA and DELTA to be more competitive. Be warned that age is a huge factor in TEFL and maybe you should add a specialty for future security such as an MBA.
