In Response To: FBI Background Check (JTB)

You are being proactive in your successful search for a TEFL teaching position and that is a good thing.

Some TEFL employers ask for a recent police background check for visa entry requirements. In reading Dave's International Job Board, Vietnam comes to mind as one country where legal teaching work requires an applicant to have a police background check.

Most TEFL employers operating institutions teaching children will ask for such a background check.

Other TEFL employers those teaching primarily adults may not ask for such a check. You need to do some research and find out exactly what country and what institution you wish to apply.

Once that is done, then govern yourself accordingly with regard to what you're asking for.
