I have just begun researching the field and am finding a lot of conflicting opinions about which certificate will best serve me. I'm 51, a US citizen, have a Master's degree in School/Public Librarianship, taught K-5 library for two years and am interested primarily in teaching opportunities in Europe (most specifically Italy). Any advice, suggestions, or resources would be most greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Unless you are an EU citizen or have EU citizen ancestry (parents, grandparents born in Italy), teaching in Italy, legally, is not an option.

If you are inclined to teach in other European countries (Eastern Europe), you may want to upgrade your second language teaching skills with a CELTA.
