Age need not be an impediment. If fact there are many retired teachers who venture into ESL/EFL after many years teaching other subjects and are successful in gaining tertiary employment.

Be warned though there are some countries who do restrict teachers from working in their countries.

This may be for visa requirements. Some Middle East countries do definitely have age restrictions regarding teaching EFL.

So, before believing an age sweeping statement check a country you are interested in teaching and check the age restrictions for visa entry and for employment.
