Adverbs + verbs (adverbs are cleverly named to make the link between them and verbs explicit:-)). Most adverbs end in 'ly.
Adjectives + nouns

For a low-level class, you could give them sets of nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs all mixed up and ask them to pair them functionally and logically.
