In Response To: ESL certification (Frederic Straight)

"Since I have had about 3 years' experience teaching EFL at a language school in Seoul, Korea, I believe an online course would be sufficient for me to get my EFL teaching certificate."

Your experience in Korea prior to any TEFL/TESL training is unlikely to be viewed as particularly useful by employers in other countries. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, simply having taught (without related qualifications) does not guarantee that you've one it well, and, secondly, the Korean teaching context is quite different to teaching in other situations, so what worked for you there may well not work in other places.

Online certificates by definition do not offer supervised teaching practice with actual students, considered the key component of a reputable training course.

Strongly suggest you bite the bullet and go for an onsite course, unless you plan to return to Korea.
