A degree isn't a deal breaker for the Czech Republic (only if you are going to teach in a state school). The vast majority of people who teach in the Czech Republic do so by teaching in private language schools, where the requirement is degree OR TEFL certificate. There has been a new law passed recently which has been completely misunderstood by a lot of schools in Prague. Get the trade licence if you are going to be here for a year or so. Our advice though is to get the work permit visa if planning (like most) to stay for under a year.
Hope it helps!
Neville :-)
