TESL Training for a Linguistics Grad?

Hi there,

I have a Masters degree in Linguistics, and I've been looking into various teacher training programs so that I can get certified to teach English in Canada. I've done some volunteer teaching and I love it.

I may do a year-long certificate (or possibly even another Masters degree) starting in September 2013, but I've been wondering about taking one of the shorter courses right away to get me started.

Does anyone know of any programs (in Canada) that would be appropriate for someone with a linguistics background and that maybe doesn't place such a heavy emphasis on teaching abroad?

The Toronto ILAC TESOL Diploma (4 week program) has caught my eye (convenient location, start date, and price), but I'm open to other options.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!
