Linguistics is a major that many ESL teachers come from or move on to, and is connected to a lot of University ESOL roles.
But it does not itself inherently involve practical classroom teaching as part of the qualification, certainly not usually at Primary or Secondary level, which is usually required for mainstream teaching.
There are a few of the one-year secondary teaching diplomas that can be done online, but you usually need to spend some periods of the year teaching under observation at a school int he country where the course is based.
E.g., Victoria Univ of Wellington in New Zealand have a one-year GDipTchg online course which you can do from anywhere in the world (if you are not a domestic NZ student, though, you'd have to pay larger fees). but there are two 7-week sessions in the year where you need to be placed to teach in a NZ school while they assess you....
You will likely find that true of any such qualification.
