I assume you mean you have two "College Diplomas" as opposed to "Degrees".

There is clear reason why most foreign TEFL employers insist any prospective TEFL teacher possess a Bachelors Degree from a recognized university: visa requirements first and foremost.

More and more countries' second language employers need potential foreign teachers to have a minimum of a university Bachelors degree.

Can you obtain a "decent job" without one? In some countries you can obtain EFL teaching work but you may not find the description "decent" applies because you will be competing with those teachers who are well qualified - academically and teaching experience - and it is those teachers, naturally, who get the "decent" jobs.

After obtaining a first teaching job without a Bachelors degree does not nullify the requisite for the need to have a Bachelors degree for future teaching jobs.

Teaching without adequate academic credentials does not prepare you for a decent future in the profession. If you are seriously considering TEFL teaching as a career, the bare minimum academic credential is a university Bachelors degree.

You may obtain a TEFL certificate, teach, explore, and reconsider your future.

I hope you were not thinking of saving money from teaching abroad to come back to Ontario and buy a house.

If you earn enough to adequately support yourself in a foreign country and can purchase a plane ticket back to Ontario from your teaching stipend, you will have done well.

Teaching is like any other profession, only those well qualified earn decent pay (example Middle East teaching positions) while those who are not earn very little.

I remember teaching as a volunteer in Nicaragua where the school hired foreign English teachers with next to no qualifications except that the teachers spoke English. The teachers were paid exactly the same wage as the native Nicaraguan teachers: two ($2.00) American dollars per hour!! For me it was a cultural experience that I thoroughly enjoyed.

By all means, live your dream but be realistic.
