In Response To: Re: MA TESOL St Clements University (Dr Bernard Leeman)

Well, the only positive response to my original post about the MA TESOL from St Clements University, was from "Bruce" whose email address, when googled, is linked directly to London Teacher Training College (LTTC) who are selling places on the course in question. I have recently completed the TESOL Diploma with LTTC, and received an 'A' grade. I felt that the course was quite comprehensive, and certainly not an easy task. However, having been an ESL teacher for several years now I would advise people interested in joining the ESL teaching profession to take a TEFL/CELTA course with real in class training. The theory learned in the TESOL diploma is all well and good, but when dropped in a class of fifty teenagers for the first time on your own, it will not help you. My opinion only of course.

I sat the TESOL diploma not to learn more about the job, although much of it was very interesting and I certainly did learn a great deal, but to achieve the qualification to improve my options as a teacher. I was planning to continue on to the MA TESOL with St Clements University for the very same reason. Regardless of the work load required to pass the MA course, if the ministry of education in Thailand does not recognise it, it will have been a massive waste of time and money.
