You had experience teaching before staring the CELTA. That may be one of the problems. This seems to be common for teacher with previous teacher training doing the CELTA. You may have to unlearn a lot of what you have used in your previous teaching in order to conform to the CELTA style. As a trained science teacher I felt that a lot of what I did was wrong. I understand and accept that (I really do, as teaching science and languages is different and most of my CELTA trainers were very nice so I don't blame them), but I find it worrisome that even teacher with higher TEFL training (Ma tesol and the like) have problems in the CELTA boot camp. As many have said before, if you already been trained as a teacher, don't mention it. Shouldn't be like that, but unfortunately this is the way it is in many CELTA training camps. Strangely, I have never seen this complaints from trainees in the other TEFL cert. programs like SIT or TEFL international. Would be nice if someone from the others TEFL training schools can contribute here something about this difference. Please, let's avoid the usual pro/contra CELTA bickering and rather try to understand why it's only CELTA that's receiving this kind of criticism
