"A lot of people that are not from the EU are able to find work in Barcelona or Spain in general. You can find private students and there are some schools that are willing to hire you "under the radar". I know it sounds risky but you'd be surprised at the amount of people that manage to do this."
Yes, it is indeed risky to work illegally. If people choose to do so with a full understanding of the risks involved, fair enough - but it's not fair to imply that it's no big deal.
Keep in mind that as an illegal worker, you have zero legal protection against exploitation by landlords, schools, or students. If you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (as in accident or incident involving authorities) you are likely in for real trouble. Finally, when you leave the Schengen zone (from whatever country) you are at risk for up to 10 years ban from entering the EU again.
Working illegally also doesn't do much for one's CV/resume, so if one plans to stay in the field longer-term, it's clearly not a wise choice. If you don't mind the daily insecurity and aren't planning to be in the EFL business more than a year or so, then working illegally might be an option, but don't go into that with rosy glasses!
